Makes 🢒 Saturn 🢒 2003 🢒 ION 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Automatic Transmission - VT25-E 🢒 Variable Drive Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Remove the variable drive cover bolts.

    3. Object Number: 889760 Size: SH
  3. Remove the variable drive cover from the transmission.
  4. Remove the outer variable drive cover seal from the transmission and discard.
  5. Remove the variable drive cover seal and discard.

    6. Object Number: 781039 Size: SH
  6. Inspect the variable drive cover and cover seal for damage and replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 889760 Size: SH
  1. Install a new variable drive cover seal.
  2. Install a new outer variable drive cover seal.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the variable drive cover to the transmission.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the variable drive cover bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  4. Install the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
