Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Disconnect the positive battery cable (1).
- Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer (1).
- Disconnect the battery vent assembly.
- Remove the battery brace bolt and brace (2).
- Remove the battery.
Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery to the battery tray.
- Install the battery brace (2) and the brace bolt.
- Install the battery hold down retainer (1) and bolt.
- Connect the battery vent assembly.
- Connect the positive battery cable bolt (1).
- Connect the negative battery cable bolt (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery installation.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the battery brace bolt to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the battery hold down retainer bolt to 18 N·m
(13 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the battery positive cable terminal bolt
to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
