Clutch Start Switch Signal | P0830 | P0830 | P0830 | -- |
The clutch start switch is a normally open switch. When the ignition is ON, and the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch start switch will close, supplying B+ on the clutch start switch signal circuit to the engine control module (ECM). When the clutch pedal is released, the clutch start switch opens, resulting in zero voltage on the clutch start switch signal circuit. The ECM continuously monitors the voltage on the clutch start switch circuit.
No vehicle speed sensor DTCs P0502 or P0503.
The ECM detects a short to B+ on the clutch pedal switch circuit when the clutch pedal is released.
• | DTC P0830 is a Type C DTC. |
• | The ECM disables cruise control. |
DTC P0830 is a Type C DTC.
The battery must be fully charged. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test.

⇒ | If not within the specified range, test the ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, refer to Symptoms - Engine Electrical. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the powertrain control module (PCM). |
⇒ | If not within the specified value, test the clutch start switch signal circuit for a short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the clutch start switch. |
