The instrument panel cluster (IPC) calculates the vehicle mileage based on the vehicle driven distance information from the engine control module (ECM). The ECM sends the vehicle driven distance information to the steering column control module (SCCM) via the serial data circuit. The SCCM sends a serial data message to the IPC indicating the vehicle driven distance. The IPC uses the vehicle driven distance data to calculate and display the vehicle odometer and trip odometer. The IPC detects the activation of the trip reset switch and a press and hold of the trip reset switch resets the trip odometer information to zero.
The ignition is in ACCESSORY or RUN.
The IPC detects that the trip reset switch is stuck.
The IPC ignores the trip reset switch inputs.
• | The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present. |
• | The history DTC clears after 40 malfunction-free warm-up cycles. |

Ignition ON, verify the odometer trip reset switch resets the trip odometer display when the switch is pressed.
⇒ | If the odometer trip reset switch does not reset the trip odometer, replace the IPC. |
