The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may report the service engine light is on and the engine overheats on a manual transmission vehicle. Technicians may find that the engine cooling fan fuse is open and codes P0691 and P0693 may be present.
Manual transmission equipped vehicles use a single "pull" type cooling fan. Fuse 6 in the UBEC is shown as a 20 Amp in service information. The correct fuse for a manual transmission vehicle is should be 40 Amp. Ensure that the correct fuse is installed in the vehicle before continuing with diagnostics. Correction to service information is pending.
An automatic transmission vehicle will have two fans one pull type and one push type. There will also be two fan fuses in the UBEC on an auto transmission vehicle Fuse 5 (30 Amp) and Fuse 6 (20 amp)
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
