Notice: The ASTRA-ENG-TOOL-LNR engine fixture tool is required for some repairs. Performing repairs without it may cause wheel alignment, vehicle tracking or engine/transmission cradle ground out noise and/or vibration concerns.

Saturn Astra Engine Tool Loan Program

The following information explains the process regarding the Astra Cradle Alignment Tool Loan Program for the engine, transmission/transaxle or collision repair. There is an essential engine fixture tool, ASTRA-ENG-TOOL-LNR that must be used for the engine, transmission/transaxle or collision repair whenever the front cradle is removed and/or installed in a vehicle. This will ensure the proper alignment of the powertrain cradle to the body. The tool will also ensure that performing a wheel alignment will not be necessary after a repair. Refer to the following instructions outlined in this bulletin for requesting the use of the tool.

Important: After 30 days, the dealership will be billed $3250.00 ($3330.00 Canadian) if the engine fixture loaner tool has not been returned.

  1. Upon completion of the repair, the tool needs to be returned immediately or your dealership will be billed for the entire cost of the tool.
  2. Contact SPX Service Support at 1-800-852-8863 . SPX will coordinate 2nd day shipping of the loaner tool.
  3. Be sure to save and re-use the shipping crates.
    4. 3.1.  The shipping instructions are in the tool crate. Return the tool by contacting UPS® at 1-800-742-5877 or visit their website at www.ups.com .
    3.2.  There is a prepaid UPS Ground Shipping label included inside the ASTRA-ENG-TOOL-LNR crate to be used for return of the loaner tool. Return the tool by UPS® Ground. Refer to further shipping instructions outlined in this bulletin.
    3.3.  The repacking instructions for the alignment fixture loaner tool are also included in the tool crate .
  4. A loaner tool shipping charge of $300.00 ($400.00 Canadian) will be billed to the dealership's SPX Kent-Moore® service tool account. For loaner tool reimbursement on warranty repairs, submit $300.00 ($400.00 Canadian) on the repair order as a net amount. Additional loaner tool questions can be answered by calling SPX at 1-800-852-8863 .

Saturn Astra Tool Loan Program Return Shipping Instructions

Important: Failure to return the loaner to SPX within 30 days will result in a charge of $3250.00 USD ($3333.00 Canadian.

The enclosed unit is a loaner tool for your use. Contact SPX Service Support IMMEDIATELY if the loaner tool arrived in non-operating condition (1-800-852-8863) . There is no charge for this loaner tool for use on warranty repairs if it is returned within 30 days.

When you have completed the necessary vehicle repairs, please return the loaner tool to SPX. Follow these steps to avoid unnecessary charges and delays.

Within USA

  1. Package the loaner tool carefully. Refer to the packaging instructions that came with the crate.

    2. Important: A loaner tool returned to SPX in non-operating condition, or damage due to inappropriate packaging, may result in repair charges to your dealership.

  2. Attach the enclosed prepaid UPS Ground ARS shipping label to the package to provide a convenient way to return the loaner tool to SPX.
  3. Contact UPS at 1- 800-742-5877 to schedule a pick up or give the package to any UPS driver.
  4. UPS will pick up the package and it will be returned to SPX at 2100 Park Drive, Owatonna, MN 55060.

Within Canada

  1. Package the loaner tool carefully. Refer to the packaging instructions that came with the crate.

    2. Important: A loaner tool returned to SPX in non-operating condition, or damage due to inappropriate packaging, may result in repair charges to your dealership.

  3. Attach the enclosed prepaid UPS Ground Canadian Domestic Waybill to the package to provide a convenient way to return the loaner tool to SPX. If you did not receive a Waybill, please contactClaude at 519-253-6339 .
  4. Contact UPS at 1- 800-742-5877 to schedule a pick up or give the package to any UPS driver.
