Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete
assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service
kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the
service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly.
Caution: To avoid personal injury, perform a preload test on the passenger presence system whenever you
remove or replace the seat cushion trim. Failure to do so may cause the system to malfunction.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.
- Remove the front seat belt fastening panel.
Release the panel upwards (1).
- Remove the seat belt from the front seat.
Remove the bolt (2).
- Remove the rear driver seat.
Remove the 2 bolts (1).
- Remove the front seat.
• | Remove from the front guide. |
• | Release and disconnect the compact connector. |
- Remove the height adjuster panel.
Release with a plastic wedge.
- Remove the height adjuster.
Remove the 2 bolts (1) and remove the lever.
- Remove the rear seat backrest adjuster wheel.
Release with a plastic wedge.
- Remove the outer paneling.
• | Remove the 2 bolts (1, 3). |
• | Remove the front of the paneling from the guide (2). |
- Remove the interior paneling.
- Release the front seat backrest upholstery covering.
• | Remove the paneling all round (I). |
• | Release the 2 clamps (II). |
- Remove the side airbag.
• | Release and disconnect the wiring harness plug. |
- Remove the side airbag wiring harness.
Release the 2 clips.
- If equipped, remove the seat heating wiring harness.
• | Disconnect and uncover wiring harness plug (arrows). |
• | Remove the 3 cable ties (1). |
- Remove the front seat backrest.
• | Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2). |
• | Remove the front seat backrest. |
- If equipped, expose the seat heating cable.
• | Remove the 5 cable ties (1). |
• | Release the 2 wiring harness. |
• | Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the compact plug. |
• | Expose the wiring harness from the grooved tube (2). |
• | Expose the seat heating wiring harness. |
- Remove the seat frame.
Remove the 4 screws (arrows).
- Remove the upholstery covering.
• | Remove the upholstery covering all the way around. |
• | Remove the 16 upholstery clamps. |
• | Remove the upholstery covering. |
- Remove the upholstery padding.
Installation Procedure
- Install the upholstery padding.
- Install the upholstery covering.
• | Position the upholstery covering. |
• | Install the 16 upholstery clamps. |
• | Fasten the upholstery covering all the way round. |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the seat frame.
Tighten
Tighten the 4 bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Route the seat heating cable.
• | Route the seat heating wiring harness. |
• | Insert the wiring harness into grooved tube. |
• | Connect the wiring harness plug into the compact plug. |
• | Install the 2 wiring harness. |
• | Install the 5 cable ties. |
- Install the front seat backrest.
Tighten
Tighten the 4 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Install the seat heater wiring harness.
• | Connect the wiring harness plug. |
• | Install the 3 cable ties. |
- Install the side airbag wiring harness.
Install the 2 clips.
Important: Ensure the correct wiring harness routing.
- Install the side airbag.
Connect and latch the wiring harness plug.
Tighten
Tighten 3 nuts 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Install the front seat back upholstery covering.
• | Insert the upholstery covering into guide all around. |
- Install the inner panel.
Insert the panel.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the outer panel.
Insert the panel.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the rear seat backrest star handle.
Install the adjusting wheel.
- Install the height adjuster.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Install the height adjuster panel.
Install the panel.
- Install the front seat.
• | Connect the wiring harness plug. |
• | Insert into the front guide. |
- Install the front seat, rear.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
Important: Use the screw locking compound.
- Install the front seat belt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Insert the front seat belt trim panel.
Reposition the front seat to the original position.
- Connect the battery.
