Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly.

    Caution: To avoid personal injury, perform a preload test on the passenger presence system whenever you remove or replace the seat cushion trim. Failure to do so may cause the system to malfunction.

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.

  3. Remove the front seat belt fastening panel.

    4. Release the panel upwards (1).

  4. Remove the seat belt from the front seat.

    5. Remove the bolt (2).

  5. Remove the rear driver seat.

    6. Remove the 2 bolts (1).

  6. Remove the front seat.
    7. • Remove from the front guide.
    • Release and disconnect the compact connector.

  7. Remove the height adjuster panel.

    8. Release with a plastic wedge.

  8. Remove the height adjuster.

    9. Remove the 2 bolts (1) and remove the lever.

  9. Remove the rear seat backrest adjuster wheel.

    10. Release with a plastic wedge.

  10. Remove the outer paneling.
    11. • Remove the 2 bolts (1, 3).
    • Remove the front of the paneling from the guide (2).

  11. Remove the interior paneling.
    12. • Remove the bolt (1).
    • Remove the paneling.

  12. Release the front seat backrest upholstery covering.
    13. • Remove the paneling all round (I).
    • Release the 2 clamps (II).

  13. Remove the side airbag.
    14. • Remove the 3 nuts (1).
    • Release and disconnect the wiring harness plug.
  14. Remove the side airbag wiring harness.

    15. Release the 2 clips.

  15. If equipped, remove the seat heating wiring harness.
    16. • Disconnect and uncover wiring harness plug (arrows).
    • Remove the 3 cable ties (1).

  16. Remove the front seat backrest.
    17. • Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2).
    • Remove the front seat backrest.

  17. If equipped, expose the seat heating cable.
    18. • Remove the 5 cable ties (1).
    • Release the 2 wiring harness.
    • Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the compact plug.
    • Expose the wiring harness from the grooved tube (2).
    • Expose the seat heating wiring harness.

  18. Remove the seat frame.

    19. Remove the 4 screws (arrows).

  19. Remove the upholstery covering.
    20. • Remove the upholstery covering all the way around.
    • Remove the 16 upholstery clamps.
    • Remove the upholstery covering.
  20. Remove the upholstery padding.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the upholstery padding.
  2. Install the upholstery covering.
    3. • Position the upholstery covering.
    • Install the 16 upholstery clamps.
    • Fasten the upholstery covering all the way round.

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the seat frame.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Route the seat heating cable.
    5. • Route the seat heating wiring harness.
    • Insert the wiring harness into grooved tube.
    • Connect the wiring harness plug into the compact plug.
    • Install the 2 wiring harness.
    • Install the 5 cable ties.
  5. Install the front seat backrest.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  6. Install the seat heater wiring harness.
    7. • Connect the wiring harness plug.
    • Install the 3 cable ties.
  7. Install the side airbag wiring harness.

    8. Install the 2 clips.

    Important: Ensure the correct wiring harness routing.

  8. Install the side airbag.

    9. Connect and latch the wiring harness plug.

    Tighten
    Tighten 3 nuts 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  9. Install the front seat back upholstery covering.
    10. • Install the 2 clamps.
    • Insert the upholstery covering into guide all around.
  10. Install the inner panel.

    11. Insert the panel.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the outer panel.

    12. Insert the panel.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  12. Install the rear seat backrest star handle.

    13. Install the adjusting wheel.

  13. Install the height adjuster.

    14. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  14. Install the height adjuster panel.

    15. Install the panel.

  15. Install the front seat.
    16. • Connect the wiring harness plug.
    • Insert into the front guide.
  16. Install the front seat, rear.

    17. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

    Important: Use the screw locking compound.

  17. Install the front seat belt.

    18. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  18. Insert the front seat belt trim panel.

    19. Reposition the front seat to the original position.

  19. Connect the battery.
