Condition

Action

DEFINITION: Vibration is felt from the transmission while driving.

Fluid level low and/or burnt

    • Perform Transmission Fluid Check .
    • If low inspect for fluid leak, repair as necessary.
    • Inspect transmission oil cooler system for restricted or kinked lines.
    • Flush system. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Flushing and Flow Test .

Fluid is contaminated with water or engine coolant

If contaminated with engine coolant replace transmission.

Unit filled with wrong type of fluid

Drain fluid and fill with proper type of fluid.

Engine or transmission mounts

    • Inspect the engine mounts and the transmission mounts for wear or loose mounting fasteners.
    • Replace any faulty engine or transmission mounts or loose fasteners.

Interference with drivetrain or body

    • Inspect components surrounding the transmission assembly and engine for improper contact.
    • Repair or adjust as necessary.

Drive shafts

    • Inspect the drive shafts for worn components.
    • Replace the drive shaft if worn.

Exhaust system

    • Inspect the exhaust system for loose or missing hangers.
    • Inspect the exhaust system for contacting body or frame components.
    • Adjust or repair the exhaust system.

Tire balance

    • Inspect for balance of the tires.
    • Inspect for uneven wear of the tires.
    • Re-balance the tires or replace as necessary.

Flexplate

    • Inspect the flexplate for cracks or loose mounting bolts.
    • Replace the flexplate if cracked.
    • Inspect the flexplate for runout or being bent.
    • Replace the flexplate if runout is not correct.

Engine malfunction

    • Ensure engine is operating properly.
    • Repair engine to operate properly.

Internal transmission part failure

    • Disassemble the transmission and inspect the following:
       - Worn bearings
       - Bent shafts
       - Planetary assemblies for wear
    • Replace transmission if any parts are faulty.
