Removal Procedure
- Remove axle shaft. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement.
- Detach the boot clamps of the boot at wheel side with side cutters (1). Cut open the boot on shaft and remove.
Important: Replace the retaining ring (1) on shaft after detaching constant velocity joint.
- Use the rubber hammer to drive the joint from shaft splines on shaft in direction of arrow.
Installation Procedure
- Wash out cavities in the joint.
- Prepare the joint for assembly.
Fill cavities in the joint with special grease.
- Push the boot onto axle shaft.
- Drive the joint onto axle the shaft with a rubber hammer until the retaining ring engages on the axle shaft.
Important: The boot must sit in the groove in the joint.
- Slide the boot (1) into the joint.
Important: Use NEW retaining straps.
- Install the retaining straps on the wheel side and tighten manually with the
MKM-804
(I).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the retaining straps with torque wrench and
MKM-804
(II) and (III)..
Tighten
Tighten to 25 N·m(18 lb ft).
- Install the axle shaft. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement.
