The yaw rate and lateral accelerometer sensor monitors the motion of the vehicle for the EBCM to maintain control and stabilize the vehicle during most driving conditions.
Engine Running
The yaw rate and lateral accelerometer sensor indicates the vehicle motion needs the vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) activated, and the EBCM detects either the brakes are not applied for at least 15 seconds, or the brakes are applied for at least 45 seconds during this VSES event.
One or more of the following actions may occur:
• | The EBCM disables VSES. |
• | The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the warning indicator/message. |
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |

⇒ | If the DTC set within the Conditions for Running and Setting, the VSES is operating as designed. |
⇒ | If the DTC resets, replace the yaw rate sensor and lateral accelerometer. |
