Circuit/System Description

The steering column module generates audible warnings through an internal acoustic speaker. The steering column module receives audible warning requests from the IPC and other modules via the serial data circuit.

Circuit/System Verification

Important: Before performing this diagnostics, make sure no indicator(s) are illuminated after the IPC performs a lamp test. If any indicators are illuminated after the bulb test, perform the indicator diagnostics before this diagnostics.

  1. Ignition ON, low beam switch OFF, verify the scan tool Low Beam Switch parameter is OFF.
  2. If not OFF, refer to Headlamps Malfunction.
  3. Ignition ON, all doors closed, verify the scan tool door status is DOOR CLOSED for all doors.
  4. If not On, refer to Courtesy Lamps Malfunction.
  5. Ignition ON, radio ON, adjust the radio balance and fade to the left front speaker.
  6. If the speaker does not operate properly, refer to Speaker Malfunction
  7. Verify that the 'KEY IN' Status parameter is Active when the key is in the ignition and Inactive when the key is out of the ignition.
  8. If not, perform the Reset the ECU function located in Programming for the steering column control module (SCCM) before replacing the steering column module.
