Circuit/System Description

The Steering Wheel Module (SWM) contain switches that control the Front and rear wiper and washer functions. These switches are integrated within the SWM and are not serviceable as a separate component. The SWM monitors these switch inputs for internal faults and set DTC B3637  A5 through DTC B3642 A5 if any are detected.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The system voltage is 9-18 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The SWM detects multiple or simultaneous switch inputs from a wiper or washer switch for more than one minute that would indicate a stuck switch.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The SWM ignores inputs from the malfunctioning switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 40 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Clear all DTCs and operate the integrated switches at SWM within the Conditions for Running the DTC. The DTC should not set.

If the DTC sets, replace the SWM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
