J 37872 /KM-806 Universal Spanner Wrench

1. Remove the compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .

Important: Clamp the compressor to bracket in a vice, using protective jaws.

2. Clamp the compressor in a vice.



3. Remove the compressor clutch.

•	Remove the bolt.

•	Counterhold with J 37872 /KM-806 (1).

•	Remove the compressor clutch upwards.

Important: Re-use spacer washers when refitting.

4. Remove the spacer washers.



5. Remove the retaining ring (1) from belt pulley.
6. Pull off the compressor pulley (2).

1. Install the compressor pulley on the compressor housing.
2. Install the retaining ring in the groove in the compressor housing.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




3. Install the compressor clutch.

3.1.	Insert the spacing washer.

3.2.	Press the compressor clutch into teeth on shaft.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

3.3.	Counterhold with J 37872 /KM-806 (1).

Important: Check reference gap between clutch and friction surface of the belt pulley at 4 points with feeler gauge and form mean value.

4. Adjust the reference gap for the compressor clutch.
5. Inspect reference gap of compressor clutch.

Specification
Reference value: 0.3-0.7 mm (0.012-0.028 in).

6. Correct the reference gap.

6.1.	Detach the compressor clutch.

Important: If the reference gap is too large, install thicker spacing washer (2) between compressor shaft and clutch, install a thinner one if the reference gap is too small. Spacing washers available: 0.1 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm.

6.2.	Set the reference gap.

7. Repeat inspection as described.
8. Remove the compressor from the vice.
9. Install the compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
