Battery Negative Cable Replacement LY7
Removal Procedure
- Remove the battery box cover.
- Remove the air intake duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable (3). Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Remove the retaining nut from the ground wire.
- Remove the ground wire.
- Remove the retaining clip for the negative battery cable.
- Remove the retaining nut for the ground wire (4).
- Remove the engine harness ground lead (3).
- Remove the battery cable ground lead (2) from the studnut (1).
- Remove the negative battery cable from the engine harness.
Installation Procedure
- Position the negative cable between the battery and the engine block.
- Install the negative cable ground (2) stud/nut (1).
- Install the engine harness ground lead (3).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining nut for the ground wire (4).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the retaining clip for the battery cable.
- Install the ground wire.
- Install the retaining nut for the ground wire.
- Connect the negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Install the battery box cover.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
Battery Negative Cable Replacement LZ4
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Remove the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar.
- Remove the negative battery cable clip from the battery tray.
- Remove the tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.
- Remove the negative cable from the retainers.
- Remove the battery cable/ground cable lead nut (2) from the transmission stud.
- Remove the engine harness and negative battery cable leads.
- Remove the ground cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the ground cable.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the negative battery cable and engine harness leads.
- Install the battery cable/ground cable lead nut (2) to the transmission stud.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the negative cable to the retainers.
- Install tape to hold the positive cable to the negative cable.
- Install the negative battery cable clip to the battery tray.
- Install the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
Battery Negative Cable Replacement LAT
Removal Procedure
Important:
• | Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing. |
• | Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable. |
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Remove the negative battery cable ground nut (1) from the engine block stud.
- Remove the negative battery cable ground lead (2) from the stud.
- Remove the negative battery cable ground nut (3) from the tie bar stud.
- Remove the negative battery cable ground lead (4) from the stud.
- Disconnect the body wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the battery current sensor (1).
- Cut the tape (1) securing the negative cable to the positive cable.
Important: Note the routing of the negative battery cable assembly prior to removing.
- Remove the negative battery cable assembly (3).
- Place the cable assembly on a clean work surface.
- Measure from one end of the negative battery cable to the current sensor location. Record this measurement for reference during installation.
- Remove the battery current sensor (2) from the negative battery cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery current sensor (2) to the NEW negative battery cable.
- Measure from the same end as earlier, and slide the current sensor to that measurement on the negative battery cable.
- Place the NEW negative battery cable (3) next to the positive battery cable (4).
- Install NEW tape (1) securing the negative cable to the positive cable.
- Connect the body wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the battery current sensor (1).
- Install the negative battery cable ground lead (4) to the tie bar stud.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the negative battery cable ground nut (3) to the stud.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the negative battery cable ground lead (2) to the engine block stud.
- Install the negative battery cable ground nut (1) to the stud.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
Battery Negative Cable Replacement LE5
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Remove the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar.
- Remove the tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.
- Remove the negative cable from the retainers.
- Remove the engine harness ground lead fastener (2).
- Remove the negative cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the negative cable.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the engine harness ground lead fastener (2) and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.
- Install the negative battery cable clip to the battery tray.
- Install the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie barand tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
