This bulletin is being revised to update the Correction information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-03-08-004 (Section 03 - Suspension).


Condition

Some customers may comment on a crunch, squawk, or grind noise from the front suspension when driving over bumps at low speed. This condition may be more apparent in cold weather.

Cause

This condition may be caused by friction between the stabilizer shaft and the insulator (bushing).

Correction

Replace the insulators with the revised (new design) parts following the procedure below. Clean all residual grease from the stabilizer shaft before installation.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in SI.
  2. Caution: Use a jackstand to support the front crossmember assembly while the crossmember-to-body bolts are removed.

  3. Lower the crossmember slightly in order to access the stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts. Refer to Crossmember Replacement - Front Suspension in SI.

  4. Object Number: 1801713  Size: SH
  5. Remove the old stabilizer shaft insulators. Clean all residual grease from the stabilizer shaft.
  6. Install the new design stabilizer shaft insulators..
  7. Raise and install the crossmember assembly. Refer to Crossmember Replacement - Front Suspension in SI.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
