Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2006 🢒 Wave 🢒 Steering 🢒 Steering Wheel and Column 🢒 Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

    2. Object Number: 1248378 Size: SH
  2. Remove the lower steering column cover panel screws.
  3. Turn the steering wheel in order to access the upper steering column cover panel screws. Remove the upper steering column cover panel screws.
  4. Remove the upper and the lower steering column cover panels.

    5. Object Number: 1248387 Size: SH
  5. With the key in the ignition lock cylinder, turn the ignition lock cylinder to the accessory (ACC) position.
  6. Press down the detent spring with an Allen wrench, or equivalent, and pull out the lock cylinder.

Installation Procedure
  1. With the key in the ignition lock cylinder, ensure the ignition lock cylinder is in the ACC position.
  2. Install the lock cylinder to the housing.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.

    4. Object Number: 1248378 Size: SH
  4. Install the upper and the lower steering column cover panels.

    5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the lower steering column cover panel screws.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the lower steering column cover panel screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Turn the steering wheel in order to access the upper steering column cover panel screw holes. Install the upper steering column cover panel screws.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the upper steering column cover panel screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
