Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to
Crankshaft Pulley Replacement
.
Important: To protect the crankshaft from damage, wrap the tip of the screwdriver with tape.
- Use a screwdriver and pry out the crankshaft front oil seal.
Installation Procedure
- Lubricate the new crankshaft front oil seal with Chassis Grease GM P/N 1051344 (Canadian P/N 993037) or equivalent.
- Using a hammer and an appropriate driver, lightly tap the crankshaft front oil seal into place.
Important: Tap the oil seal in until its surface is flush with the crankshaft front oil seal retainer edge.
- Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to

.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Start the engine.
