Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the manual transaxle from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission -MK5 or Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - MTN.

    2. Object Number: 235978 Size: SH
  2. Remove the clutch release bearing and the clutch release fork at the same time.
  3. Remove the clutch release bearing from the clutch release fork.
  4. Clean the clutch release bearing using a clean dry solvent free cloth.
  5. Inspect the clutch release bearing for external damage and smooth rotation. Replace the clutch release bearing for the following conditions:
    6. • External damage
    • The bearings do not operate smoothly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 235980 Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the clutch release bearing using a thin coat of wheel bearing grease of GM P/N 1051344 (Canadian P/N 9930337) or the equivalent.
  2. Install the clutch release bearing to the clutch release fork.
  3. Install the clutch release bearing and the clutch release fork assembly onto the transaxle assembly.
  4. Install the manual transaxle from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission -MK5 or Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - MTN.
