Luggage Rack Rattle When Driving - keywords area bow bump over roof

Subject:Luggage Rack Rattle When Driving

Models:2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Owners may comment that there is a rattle from the roof area.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The first area to inspect is to make sure the thumb knobs for the cross bows are tight. The next source of the rattle could be that the cross bows are not tight in the slider assembly. There are two screws on the underside of the slider that holds the cross bows tight into the slider that might be loose. The screws are TORX #15 and can be tightened using a 90 deg TORX driver (similar to an Allen wrench). Access to the screws on the front bow is improved by first moving the bow as far to the rear as possible.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
