Subject:Recirculation Button Turns Off When Changing Modes

Models:

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Recirculation button turns off when changing modes.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The recirculation button is located just below the air condition control button. The recirculation button should be pressed when recirculated inside air is desired, such as during high ambient temperature when the A/C is operating. The recirculation button is automatically turned off when the climate control system mode knob is turned to the defog or defrost setting. Turning the recirculation mode off helps reduce the chance of fogging on the windows and windshield when it is raining, or when the humidity is high. You are able to override this feature by again pressing on the recirculation button once in either of these modes. If the recirculation button is on when exiting from the Defog mode to the adjacent heat mode, the recirculation button will again be turned off.

The above listed recirculation button activity is design characteristic of the control system. If operating in the above fashion, no repairs should be attempted to change the operation.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
