DEFINITION: The navigation voice guidance is inoperative, you can not hear voice commands, or the voice guidance volume is reduced or noisy.

Did you perform Diagnostic System Check - Navigation System?

Go to Step 2

Can audio be heard from the left front speakers when a CD is played or the radio is on?

Go to Step 3

Go to Speakers Inoperative - One or More in Entertainment

  1. Turn the ignition to ACC with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn on the navigation radio and insert the map disc.
  3. Press the NAV button on the radio.
  4. When the navigation disclaimer screen appears, press the "I AGREE" button on the display.
  5. The display should show the current position of the vehicle. The navigation map should be clear and have clear color.

  6. Push the "MENU" button to display the menu.
  7. Select "Volume" from the menu.
  8. Adjust the volume.
  9. Navigation audio should be heard from the left front speaker as the audio level is adjusted.

Does the system operate normally?

Test the navigation audio circuit for an open, a short to ground, or a short to voltage. Refer to the following procedures in Wiring Systems:

    •  Testing for Continuity

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the navigation radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

Operate the system to verify the repair.
