Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the center instrument trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the instrument compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  4. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  6. Push in the retaining clip, then disconnect the cable from the shifter assembly.

  7. Object Number: 859218  Size: SH
  8. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the park lock cable from the bracket.

  10. Disconnect the shift select cable from the manual selector lever.

  11. Object Number: 859224  Size: SH
  12. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the shift select cable from the shift lever plate.

  14. Disconnect the electrical connectors, then the wire harness clip.

  15. Object Number: 859233  Size: SH
  16. Remove the 4 nuts, then the manual selector from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the manual selector into the vehicle. Secure the manual selector with 4 nuts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the manual selector bolts to 12 N·m (12 lb ft).

  3. Connect the manual selector electrical connectors.

  5. Install the shift select cable into the shift lever plate.

  7. Connect the shift select cable to the manual selector lever.

  8. Object Number: 859218  Size: SH
  9. Install the park lock cable to the shift lever plate.

  10. Object Number: 859215  Size: SH
  11. Connect the park lock cable to the manual selector lever.
  12. Install the center instrument trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  13. Install the instrument compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  14. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
