Park Brake Hardware Replacement Drum Brakes
Removal Procedure
- Remove the drum (17). Refer to
Brake Drum Replacement
.
- Remove the park brake hardware (7,8,9,10,11,12,13,23,24) with the
brake shoes (14,20). Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
Installation Procedure
- Apply Lubriplate® Lubricant, GM P/N 1050109
(Canadian P/N 5264008), or the equivalent, to the metal contact points
on the backing plate (1) and the adjuster strut (3).
- Assemble the adjuster strut (2,3,4).
- Install the park brake hardware (7,8,9,10,11,12,13,23,24)
with the shoes. Refer to

- Install the drum (17). Refer to
Brake Drum Replacement
.
Park Brake Hardware Replacement Disc Brakes
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear disc (12). Refer
to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the park brake hardware (4,5,6,7,10,11,14,15) with the park
brake shoes. Refer to
Parking Brake Shoe Replacement
.
Installation Procedure
- Apply Lubriplate® Lubricant, GM P/N 1050109
(Canadian P/N 5264008), or the equivalent, to the metal contact points
on the following components:
• | The park brake shoe lever (2) |
- Assemble the adjuster.
- Install the park brake hardware (4,5,6,7,10,11,14,15)
with the park brake shoes. Refer to

- Install the rear disc (12). Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
