Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

    Important: Whenever battery cables are being replaced, always be certain to use a replacement cable that is the same type, size, and length. Some positive (+) cables have additional feed wires attached to them and some negative (-) cables have additional ground leads attached. Always be certain to route the replacement battery cable in exactly the same manner as the original cable.

  1. Remove the battery from the vehicle. Refer to Battery Replacement .
  2. Remove the plastic insulator from the positive (+) battery terminal.

  3. Object Number: 830260  Size: SH
  4. Remove the nut (5) from the positive (+) battery cables.
  5. Separate the positive (+) battery cable (4) from the battery positive fuse block feed cable.
  6. Remove the positive (+) battery cable harness loom from the harness retainers.
  7. Remove the positive (+) battery cable from the harness loom being careful not to damage the other wires in the harness.
  8. Disconnect the retaining nut and the cable from the starter solenoid.
  9. Remove the cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 830260  Size: SH
  1. Position the positive (+) battery cable (4) into the vehicle.
  2. Route the positive (+) cable into the harness loom.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Connect the cable to the starter solenoid. Secure the cable with the retaining nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the positive (+) battery cable-to-starter solenoid retaining nut to 9 N·m (78 lb in).

  6. Install the battery positive fuse block feed cable to positive (+) battery cable. Secure with the nut (5).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the positive (+) battery cable-to- relay block 1 feed cable retaining nut to 9 N·m (78 lb in).

  8. Tape the loom to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the harness.
  9. Install the positive (+) battery cable harness loom to the harness retainers.
  10. Install the plastic insulator to the positive (+) battery cable.
  11. Install the battery to the vehicle. Refer to Battery Replacement .
