REAR COIL SPRING CLICKING (ORIENT SPRINGS TO NEW SPEC.)

SUBJECT: REAR OIL SPRING CLICK/CLUNK NOISE (SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE ORIENTATE SPRINGS TO NEW SPECIFICATION)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 U-VANS ------------------

Condition:

--------- Some 1992 U-vans assembled prior to VIN breakpoints indicated below may exhibit a metallic click/clunk noise audible in the passenger compartment, coming from the rear of the vehicle.

VIN Breakpoints

Chevrolet - NT100600 Pontiac - NT200360 Oldsmobile - NT300214 Cause: ----- Rear coil spring contacts axle spring seat due to incorrect spring orientation.

Correction:

---------- Following applicable procedure in Service Manual, Section 3D orientate rear springs as shown in attached Illustration insuring insulators are also properly positioned under spring.

This orientation supersedes that which is shown in the 1992 Service Manual, Section 3D. Please note your copies of the Service Manual accordingly.
