Chirping Squealing Or Ticking Noise From The Blower Motor

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may complain of a noisy blower motor (chirping, squealing, ticking). A number of blower motors have been returned to the warranty parts center, with no trouble found. Engineering would like to get some help with root causing this concern, and also help in the diagnosis of a noisy blower motor.

If a vehicle comes in with a concern of a noisy blower motor, please contact Marc McDermott at 905-644-1302 prior to replacing the blower motor. If it is necessary to leave a voice mail, a return call should be received within 4 business hours. If a return call in not received with in 4 business hours, continue with the repairs on the vehicle to get the customer back on the road.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
