Condition/Concern:
Some customer may complain they are unable to disarm the content theft deterrent system when unlocking the driver's door with the key. The owner's manual states that the content theft deterrent can be disarmed by unlocking the driver's door with the key.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The owner's manual is incorrect. The content theft deterrent can not be disarmed by unlocking the driver's door with the key. This is the normal operation of this vehicle. The content theft deterrent can be disarmed by using the remote keyless fob or by inserting the key into the ignition switch and starting the vehicle.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
