The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The Chime Sounds with the ignition key removed from the ignition and the driver's door is open. This can be caused by the ignition lock cylinder sticking. This will cause the ignition switch to think the key is still in the ignition.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the chime sounds with the ignition key removed and the driver's door open, follow SI Document ID # 1387341 Chime Always On. If this flow chart leads to replacing the ignition switch, check the ignition lock cylinder for a binding or sticking concern prior to replacing the ignition switch.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
