Customer comments of rattles in the door on 1988-89 Grand Prix models may be the result of loose lock rods in the anti-rattle clips. To correct this condition revised anti-rattle clips should be installed. (three anti-rattle clips on coupes, two anti-rattle clips on sedan front per door)
Single anti-rattle clip, P/N 16608794 - one required per front door for coupe and sedan
Double anti-rattle clip, P/N 16609594 - two required for coupe, one required for sedan per front door.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
1. Remove trim panel.
2. Remove water deflector to access lock rods.
3. With rods disengaged from anti-rattle clips, grasp clip with pliers and rotate 90 degrees to disengage.
4. Install new anti-rattle clips, reinstall rods.
5. Reinstall water deflector.
6. Reinstall trim panel.
