MARKS ON SURFACE OF BODY SIDE MOLDINGS (HEAT SURFACE)

SUBJECT: MARKS ON SURFACE OF BODY SIDE MOULDINGS (HEAT SURFACE UNTIL MARKS DISAPPEAR)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "J" MODELS

APPLICATION:

Pontiac Sunbird ("J" Models)

CONDITION:

Some dealer personnel have expressed concern regarding the appearance of marks on the surface of replacement Pontiac RPO B88 body side moldings.

CAUSE:

These marks are created by a chemical reaction that occurs when the plastic shipping sleeve contacts the molding's surface.

CORRECTION:

To remove the marks, simply heat the surface of the moulding with a heat gun to approximately 29 degrees Centigrade (85 degrees Fahrenheit) until marks disappear.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
