BANGING NOISE FROM UNDER HOOD ON HARD ACCEL.-REPLACE INTAKE

SUBJECT: BANGING NOISE FROM UNDER HOOD AREA DURING AGGRESSIVE LAUNCH MANEUVERS (NEW INTAKE MANIFOLD)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 PONTIAC SUNBIRD WITH 2.OL ENGINE (VIN CODE H) AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Condition:

Some owners of 1992 Pontiac Sunbird cars with 2.OL engine (VIN code H) and Manual Transmission VIN breakpoint numbers prior to N7518551 may comment of a banging noise from the under hood area during aggressive launch maneuvers.

Cause:

The intake manifold may contact the brake booster when the engine rocks during acceleration.

Correction:

Install new intake manifold assembly, P/N 93212246.
