NOISE/VIB. DURING COOLING FAN OPER. (REPL. FAN AND MOTOR)

Subject: NOISE/VIBRATION DURING COOLING FAN OPERATION (REPLACE COOLING FAN AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY)

Models Affected: 1989-91 SUNBIRD MODELS W/2.8L AND 3.1L

Application: 1991 Sunbird with 3.1L (VIN T)

Condition: Cooling fan noise (rumble/booming) is heard in passenger compartment. Vibration is felt within car through the seats, floor pan and steering wheel.

Cause: "Harmonic" vibration between the cooling fan assembly and vehicle structure.

Correction: Replace the cooling fan and motor assembly. Replace parts according to the part numbers listed in the "Part Information" below.

IMPORTANT: Both parts MUST be replaced.

Service Procedure:

Refer to Section 6B for Cooling Fan and Motor replacement.

Note: The threads attaching the fan to the motor are LEFT handed threads.

P/N 22088773 - Motor Assembly, Cooling Fan

P/N 22098789 - Blade Assembly, 6 Blades, Cooling Fan
