Important: This PI only applies to vehicles built before the VIN breakpoints above.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
On rare occasions, a SES light and random engine misfires may be experienced on hard acceleration if the vehicle has experienced extended driving in damp/humid conditions. This may be the result of moisture gathering in the charge air cooler at idle and being ingested on hard acceleration from a stop. Upon inspection, DTCs P0300-P0304 may be stored in the ECM.
If the SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this concern, replace the charge air cooler and lower air dam using the part numbers below (or any numbers that these may supersede to in the future):
Pontiac Solstice GXP:
Charge Air Cooler: 25820725
Lower Air Dam Solstice: 25817337
Saturn Sky Redline:
Charge Air Cooler: 25820725
Lower Air Dam Sky: 25826062
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
