Shifting Concerns Communication And Or Other TCM Or ECM DTCs With Possible Water Intrusion - keywords code intermittent MIL

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Customer may comment on shifting concerns, service engine soon light may be on and technician may find various ECM or TCM communication DTCs. This concern may be due to water intrusion at the TCM or ECM connectors. Missing or damaged connector cavity plugs or TCM / ECM connector seal will allow water intrusion.

Remove the TCM and ECM, remove the connector covers and inspect all bore plugs. If all bore plugs are in the proper location follow normal eSI DTC diagnostics. If plugs are found to be missing, install plugs as necessary and replace the effected module and any terminals.

Note: If any plugs are found to be missing please take digital pictures and contact technical assistance at phone number you have been provided.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
