For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Remove the rear compartment lid inner trim panel.
  2. Pull the foam sound insulator back from the adjuster.

  3. Object Number: 1786649  Size: SH

    Important: Do not over pry on the catch tabs. If any tabs break the catch may not stay in place and the cable assembly may have to be replaced.

  4. Release the adjuster cable catch by releasing the four tabs (1) by using a small flatbladed screwdriver.

  5. Object Number: 1786653  Size: SH

    Important: Absolutely do not pull the catch entirely out of the adjuster. If the catch is removed the tabs will break and the entire cable will require replacement.

  6. Pull the cable adjuster catch (1) back to release the cable.

  7. Object Number: 1786656  Size: SH
  8. Remove any slack in the cable by pushing the excess cable (1) towards the adjuster.
  9. Push the cable adjuster catch back in place making sure all four catch tabs lock in place.
  10. Pull the foam sound insulator back in place.
  11. Install the rear compartment lid inner trim panel.
  1. Remove the rear compartment lid trim panel to access the adjusters. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement.
  2. Pull the foam sound insulator back from the adjuster.

  3. Object Number: 1786649  Size: SH

  10. Pull the foam sound insulator back in place.
