Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  2. With the park brake lever fully released, completely back off the adjustment nut.
  3. The park brake cable adjusting nut is a nylon lock type. Use ONLY HAND TOOLS whenever tightening or loosening the adjusting nut.

  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  5. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

Park Brake Cable Equalizer

Procedure

  1. Carefully position the driveline tunnel insulator downward just enough to access the cable equalizer.
  2. Rotate the front cable end to release the cable from the equalizer.

Park Brake Cable

Procedure

  1. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips from the park brake cable.
  2. Disconnect the park brake cables from the park brake actuator levers on the brake calipers.

Park Brake Cable Assembly

Procedure

Move the cable conduit rearward to clear the tunnel bracket, then lift the cables to release the cables from the bracket.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.
  2. With the park brake lever fully released, completely back off the adjustment nut.
  3. The park brake cable adjusting nut is a nylon lock type. Use ONLY HAND TOOLS whenever tightening or loosening the adjusting nut.

  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  5. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  6. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement.
  7. Remove the propeller shaft, differential and driveline support, if equipped. Refer to Propeller Shaft, Differential, and Driveline Support Replacement.

Park Brake Cable Equalizer

Procedure

  1. Carefully position the driveline tunnel insulator downward just enough to access the cable equalizer.
  2. Rotate the front cable end to release the cable from the equalizer.

Procedure

  1. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips from the park brake cable.
  2. Disconnect the park brake cables from the park brake actuator levers on the brake calipers.

Procedure

  1. Move the cable conduit rearward to clear the tunnel bracket, then lift the cables to release the cables from the bracket.
  2. After the installation is complete, adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
