BATTERY WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE NEW MOUNTING ASSY. RELEASED

SUBJECT: BATTERY WILL NOT HOLD CHARGE- (NEW MOUNTING SCREW ASSEMBLY)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "T" CAR WITH 1.6L ENGINE (VIN 6) PONTIAC LEMANS

Condition:

---------- Some owners of 1992 T cars with 1.6L engine may experience a condition of the battery not holding a charge due to a loose alternator belt.

Cause:

------ The washer is not hardened and deforms into the adjustment slot of the upper brace, becoming concave and loose, allowing belt to lose tension.

Correction:

----------- The mounting bolt and washer should be replaced with screw assembly P/N 11508139 prior to retensioning the generator drive belt. Belt tension should be adjusted according to the procedure found in the T-car Service Manual.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:

Labor Time: 0.2 Hrs.
