Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2006 🢒 Matiz 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Manual Transaxle - Y4M 🢒 Shift Shaft and Fork Assemblies Disassemble

1st-2nd Gear Shift Shaft Assembly
  1. Remove the transaxle assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 1224157 Size: SH
  2. Remove the 1st-2nd gear shift shaft assembly.
  3. Remove the each shift shaft assembly from the gear unit.
  4. Fix the shift shaft assembly to a vise with protector.
  5. Remove the 1st-2nd gear fork pin using a pin punch and a hammer.
  6. Remove the 1st-2nd gear shift fork.

    7. Object Number: 1224137 Size: SH

    Important: Mark the place and direction of shift fork and yoke to install easily before removing them.

  7. Remove the 1st-2nd gear shift yoke pin using a pin punch and a hammer  (4).
  8. Remove the 1st-2nd gear shift yoke (1).
  9. Install the transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

3rd-4th Gear Shift Shaft Assembly
  1. Remove the transaxle assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 1224144 Size: SH
  2. Disassemble the 3rd-4th gear shift shaft assembly.
  3. Remove the each shift shaft assembly from the gear unit.
  4. Fix the 3rd-4th gear shift shaft assembly to a vise with protector.
  5. Remove the 3rd-4th gear fork pin using a pin punch and a hammer.
  6. Remove the 3rd-4th gear fork (3).
  7. Remove the 3rd-4th gear shift yoke pin (4) using a pin punch and a hammer.
  8. Remove the 3rd-4th gear shift yoke (1).
  9. Install the transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

5th Reverse Gear Shift Shaft Assembly
  1. Remove the transaxle assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 1224151 Size: SH
  2. Disassemble the 5th reverse gear shift shaft assembly.
  3. Remove the each shift shaft assembly from the gear unit.
  4. Remove the shift shaft not installed with yoke by pushing (3).
  5. Remove the 5th reverse gear ball (2) and the reverse shift guide ball and spring (1) from the reverse shift arm.
  6. Fix the shift shaft assembly to a vise with protector.

    7. Object Number: 1224158 Size: SH
  7. Remove the reverse gear shift arm pin using a pin punch and a hammer (1).
  8. Remove the reverse gear shift arm (2).
  9. Remove the 5th gear shift yoke pin (4) using a pin punch and a hammer.
  10. Remove the 5th gear shift yoke (3).
  11. Install the transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
