SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE REAR CAMBER ADJUSTMENT

Models Affected: 1988-89 GRAND PRIX

The rear camber adjustment procedure has been revised due to a design change in the auxiliary spring special tool for the following Service Manuals.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

NOTICE: SEE "NOTICE" ON PAGE 3A-1 OF THIS SECTION.

1. Raise vehicle, refer to General Information (Section OA).

2. Tire and wheel assembly, refer to Tires and Wheels (Section 3E).

3. Auxiliary spring, refer to Bulletin 89-3-25 issued 9/89.

4. Strut/upper auxiliary spring bracket/stabilizer shaft bracket (if used).

5. Place strut in vise.

- At the lower strut to knuckle attaching hole, file the hole lateral (oblong).

6. Place auxiliary spring assembly in vise.

- At the lower strut attaching hole, file the hole lateral (oblong).

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Attach to knuckle: strut assembly/stabilizer shaft bracket/upper auxiliary spring bracket.

- Do not tighten bolts at this time.

2. Strut to body bolts and brake hose bracket, refer to Rear Suspension (Section 3D).

3. Auxiliary spring, refer to Pontiac bulletin 89-3-25.

4. Tires and wheels, refer to Tires and Wheels (Section 3E).

5. Lower vehicle.

Adjust

- Camber

Tighten

- Strut to knuckle nuts to 185 N.m (136 N.m lb. ft.)

IMPORTANT: Toe must be checked after changing camber.
