DOOR PAINT RUB-OFF SERVICE PROCEDURE

SUBJECT: DOOR PAINT RUB-OFF SERVICE PROCEDURE (INSTALLATION CLEAR URETHANE ADHESIVE FILM)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988-89 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX

Customers may comment about paint rubbing off the top inner portion of the door where it may come in contact with the body lock pillar applique. The following procedure can be used to repair this condition:

1. Remove body lock pillar applique, if damaged.

2. Color coat applique and door (damaged portion) if required.

3. Install body lock pillar applique.

4. Install P/N 10144901 - Clear urethane adhesive film on door inner panel vertically as shown in the figure.

Parts are expected to be available on April 10, 1989. Until then normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense. All other order types will be canceled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in place.
