ENGINE STALL ON START-UP (DIAGNOSTICS/REPLACE MEMCAL)

Subject: ENGINE STALL ON START UP (DIAGNOSTICS/REPLACE MEMCAL)

Models Affected: 1989-90 GRAND PRIX MODELS WITH 3.1L (TURBO COUPE AND STE TURBO)

Condition: Some owners of 1989-90 W cars with 3.1L engines may request correction of an engine stall on start up.

Cause: Fuel and system component variability.

Correction: If the subject condition is found, then use the following procedure:

1. Perform diagnostics, per Section 6E of the Service Manual. Make any adjustments as required, or replace any defective parts.

2. If no other conditions were found using normal diagnostics, and the condition or conditions still exist, then replace the Memcal with the following part.
