INTERMITTENT ELECT CONDITIONS (REPAIR/REROUTE ENG. HARNESS)

Subject: INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL CONDITIONS (REPAIR/REROUTE ENGINE HARNESS) Models Affected: 1992-93 GRAND AM MODELS

CONDITION: Some owners of 1992-93 Grand Am models may comment that the car exhibits one or more of the following conditions:

- will not start/stalls - coolant fan inoperable/engine overheats - coolant fan always on/ will not turn off - ABS indicator light on - DRL inoperable - engine vent heater inoperable - air conditioning inoperable - rear window defogger inoperable - power seats inoperable - horn inoperable - instrument panel malfunctions/does not light - cigar lighter inoperable - remote keyless entry inoperable - transaxle converter clutch inoperable - power mirrors inoperable

CAUSE: Relay wires may be routed too closely to the Transmission Fluid Indicator (V6 application only) or the Brake Booster (all engines). Wire chafing may occur, possibly causing some of the conditions listed above.

CORRECTION: Repair chafed wiring and cover all relay leads with additional conduit and tape. Reroute harness area away from Brake Booster and/or Transmission Fluid Indicator to prevent further chaffing.
