Did you review the Brake Warning Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify that the brake warning indicator is inoperative

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Ensure that the park brake is pulled.

Does the brake warning indicator LED illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 9

Disconnect the parking brake switch.

Using a fused jumper wire ground the Brake Warning Indicator signal circuit at the switch.

Did the Brake Warning Indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Disconnect the parking brake switch.

Using a fused jumper wire ground the Brake Warning Indicator signal circuit at the instrumant panel

Did the Brake Warning Indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 9

Replace the parking brake switch.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in the Brake Warning Indicator signal circuit between the I/P and the brake fluid level switch and the parking brake switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Instrument Cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console..
