Headlamp Bulb Replacement Low Beam
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Halogen Bulb Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the hood.
- Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the rear of the relevant
headlamp assembly.
- Remove the upper radiator shroud. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- If removing the right hand low beam headlamp bulb, it may be necessary
to remove the battery to gain access. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- From
within the engine compartment, remove the outboard dust cap (1) from the rear
of the headlamp assembly (2) by turning the dust cap (1) counterclockwise,
and pulling it away from the headlamp assembly (2).
- Disconnect the wiring connector (4) from the low beam bulb (3)
by squeezing the 2 tabs together and pulling the wiring connector (4)

Installation Procedure
- Install the low beam bulb (1) into the low beam bulb holder (2).
- Turn the low beam bulb (1) clockwise to lock into place.
Important: The different sized locating lugs on the
bulb base and mating cut-outs in the bulb holder allow the bulb to seat correctly
in one orientation only. This ensures correct relationship of the bulb to the reflector.
- Install the low beam bulb connector (4) by pushing it into the base of
the low beam bulb (3) until the tabs engage.
Important: Inspect the seal in the dust cap to ensure
that it is not damaged and that it is seated correctly. Replace the seal if it is
damaged.
- Install the dust cap (1) onto the rear of the headlamp assembly (2)
Important: The different size lugs on the dust cap and
the mating cut-outs in the headlamp assembly ensure that the dust cap can only be
installed in one orientation. The chamfered flats of the cap need to be facing inboard
for the cap to install.
- Lock the dust cap (1) into place by turning clockwise.
- Connect the wiring harness connector to the rear of the headlamp assembly.
- Install the battery, if removed. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
