Description
The purpose of the evaporative emission (EVAP) Service Bay Test is to aid in
resetting the EVAP Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Status to complete. The EVAP
Service Bay Test changes the enable criteria so that the EVAP diagnosis tests can
run while in the service environment. When the tests are run the Service Bay Test
will indicate a pass or will indicate a specific DTC code has failed.
Conditions for Running the Test
The following conditions must be met in order to enable the Service Bay Test:
• | The battery voltage is between 11-18 volts. |
• | The start-up engine coolant temperature (ECT) is less than 70°C (158°F). |
• | The fuel level is 15-85 percent. |
• | Stored engine controller DTCs have been cleared. |
• | The vehicle must be in Park or Neutral during the test. |
• | The test can take up to 17 minutes to complete and set the I/M
system status, depending on fuel level and fuel volatility. |
Test Procedure
- Install a scan tool.
- With the scan tool, select the Service Bay Test.
- Follow the instructions on the scan tool.
- Verify that the EVAP I/M System Status is set to YES.
- Check DTCs with the scan tool.
- Continue with the published service manual diagnostic DTC procedure.
