The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment on a shudder, noise or vibration that is felt through the steering column while making right hand turns at half to full throttle. This condition could be caused by the rear transmission mount grounding out on the Rack & Pinion top hat.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If you suspect that your vehicle has this concern, then put the vehicle in the air and inspect the drivers side of the transmission mount. If you notice or see a witness mark on the transmission mount, then you will have the above concern. It's recommended that if you have this issue to please make the following repairs.

  1. Loosen the front and rear trans mount thru bolts and shift/pry the transmission upward.
  2. You will get enough movement to create enough distance and eliminate this concern.
  3. After you have enough clearance, then tighten the thru bolts to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

Important: Check for presence of excessive shake at idle after shifting mount, may have to re-adjust mounts.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
