AN OPEN "CHOKE HEATER" FUSE, WHICH WILL CAUSE THE CHOKE LIGHT TO GO ON, MAY BE DUE TO A (SHORTED TO GROUND) HOOD LOUVER SOLENOID. IT IS POWERED BY THE "CHOKE HEATER" CIRCUIT. IF THE SOLENOID HAS MALFUNCTIONED, IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. IF THIS CONDITION REPEATS ITSELF MORE THAN ONCE ON THE SAME VEHICLE, ADDITIONAL CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE TO ENSURE THE HOOD LOUVER IS NOT OPENING TOO EARLY THEREBY CAUSING THE SOLENOID TO OPERATE MORE THAN NORMAL. THE SOLENOID SHOULD OPEN AT APPROXIMATELY 5.5" HG OF ENGINE VACUUM AND LESS. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT IT IS OPENING TOO EARLY, RE- PLACE THE HOOD LOUVER VACUUM CONTROL SWITCH (PART NUMBER 10032130) LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD. THE NEW SWITCH MUST BE ORDERED V.I.P. UNTIL SEPTEMBER 15, 1983, SINCE THERE IS NO SERVICE STOCK YET AVAILABLE.
