700-R4 TRANSMISSION SLIPPING BURNED 3-4 CLUTCH

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1982 Corvette (9Y6), 1984 Corvette (3Y9) and 1983 'F' Series (3YH)

When diagnosing a 9Y6, 3Y9 and 3YH model 700-R4 transmission for a burned 3-4 clutch in the above vehicles, check the spacer plate for identification. If the spacer plate is identified with a letter 'C' (as shown), change the plate. Use P/N 8654083 which is identified with a letter 'E' and has a larger third clutch feed hole. If the transmission has the new spacer plate, refer to 1983 Product Service Bulletin 7-136 for further diagnosis information on burned 3-4 clutches.
