Early production Firebird models with air conditioning and V-6 or V-8 engines may experience an interference between the coupled A/C hose assembly and the hood inner panel at the fan shroud area.
If this condition is encountered the following changes should be made:
1. Remove and discard hose retaining clip (Figure 1). Reinstall bolt/screw.
2. Drill holes in upper fan shroud (see Figure 2 on reverse side). Holes should be centered between reinforcement ribs on underside surface of fan shroud at locations indicated.
3. Retain A/C hoses to shroud with straps (part number 1238958) (refer to Figure 1).
Care should be taken to assure that relocated A/C hoses do not pinch or kink the coolant recovery hose.
Later production Firebird models will have this change implemented at the assembly plants effective with VIN's as follows:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
