THIS BULLETIN REVISES THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR REAR SEATS AND CARPET. PLEASE ADD THESE PROCEDURES TO SECTIONS 10-4-5 AND 10-4-6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
REAR SEAT: TRIM AND COVERS
SEAT CUSHION: (FIGURES 1 AND 2)
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:
1. REAR SEAT CUSHION.
A. PUSH LOWER FORWARD EDGE OF SEAT CUSHION REARWARD.
B. LIFT UPWARD AND PULL FORWARD ON SEAT CUSHION FRAME TO DISENGAGE CUSHION FRAME WIRES FROM RETAINERS ON REAR SEAT PAN.
*IF THE CUSHION IS DIFFICULT TO DISENGAGE FROM THE SEAT PAN RETAINERS, GRASP LOWER EDGE OF SEAT CUSHION AT RETAINER LOCATION ON ONE SIDE OF SEAT, AND EXERT ENOUGH REARWARD PRESSURE TO DISENGAGE SEAT FROM RETAINERS.
2. PLACE SEAT UPSIDE DOWN ON A CLEAN SURFACE.
3. HOG RINGS ON CUSHION FRAME.
4. TURN SEAT OVER AND DISENGAGE HOOK AND LOOP UNDER TOP SURFACE OF COVER.
5. COVER.
INSTALL OR CONNECT:
1. COVER OVER PAD. ALIGN LOCATING HOLES IN COVER TO WORK LINES IN PAD.
2. ENGAGE HOOK AND LOOP.
3. HOG RINGS. STARTING AT POINT "A", WORK OUTWARD TO CORNERS. CONTINUE INSTALLING HOG RINGS IN LIKE MANNER FROM STARTING POINTS "B" AND "C". (SEE FIGURE 2).
4. REAR SEAT CUSHION.
A. CAREFULLY LIFT CUSHION INTO BODY USING CARE NOT TO DAMAGE ADJACENT TRIM. POSITION REAR EDGE OF CUSHION UNDER REAR SEAT BACK WHILE POSITIONING SEAT BELT STRAPS.
B. ALIGN FRAME WIRE OFFSETS ON FRONT OF SEAT CUSHION FRAME WITH RETAINERS ON FLOOR PAN. PUSH SEAT CUSHION REARWARD UNTIL OFFSETS ENGAGE IN RETAINERS; THEN PRESS DOWN AND PULL CUSHION FORWARD TO FULLY ENGAGE RETAINERS.
*IF IT IS DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE FRONT OF CUSHION IN RETAINERS, USE THE SAME METHOD DESCRIBED UNDER REMOVAL TO ENGAGE CUSHION IN RETAINERS.
SEAT BACK (FIGURES 3 AND 4)
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:
1. REAR SEAT CUSHION.
2. REAR SEAT BACK.
A. LAP BELT NUTS AND LAP BELTS FROM INNER STUDS.
B. PUSHNUTS FROM OUTER STUDS.
C. SEAT BACK FROM VEHICLE.
3. ARMREST (AS APPLICABLE). REMOVE BOLTS FROM SEATBACK, PIVOT SCREWS AND THEN THE ARMREST.
4. HOG RINGS TO SEAT BACK FRAME.
5. DISENGAGE HOOK AND LOOP STRIPS.
6. COVER.
INSTALL OR CONNECT:
1. COVER OVER PAD. ALIGN LOCATING HOLES IN COVER TO WORK LINES IN PAD.
2. HOG RINGS. STARTING AT POINT "A", WORK OUTWARD TO CORNERS. CONTINUE INSTALLING HOG RINGS IN LIKE MANNER FROM STARTING POINTS "B", "C" AND "D". (SEE FIGURE 4).
3. TURN SEAT OVER AND ENGAGE HOOK AND LOOP STRIPS.
4. ARMREST (AS APPLICABLE). SECURE ARMREST TO SUPPORT WITH PIVOT SCREWS AND THEN ATTACH TO SEAT BACK.
5. REAR SEAT BACK. REVERSE REMOVAL PROCEDURE AND TIGHTEN LAP BELT NUTS TO 35 N.M (25 LB. FT.). ENSURE SHOULDER BELTS OPERATE FREELY.
6. REAR SEAT CUSHION.
FLOOR CARPET (FIGURE 5)
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:
1. FRONT SEATS.
2. INBOARD SEAT BELT BUCKLES (AS APPLICABLE). REFER TO SECTION 10-11.
3. SEAT BELT RETRACTOR COVERS. REFER TO SECTION 10-11.
4. REAR SEAT CUSHION.
5. SILL PLATES (AS APPLICABLE).
